Our Story

Alex Wnuk built the greenhouse in 1928, and his initials still mark the impressive chimney. In 1945, one of his six children, Sylvia, bought the greenhouse with her husband, Joseph Graye, establishing Graye's Greenhouse. Sylvia and Joseph's three children and their spouses: Joe and Connie Graye, Alyce and Richard Humphrey, and Mary Ann and Dan Vittore, continued to run the greenhouse until 2019, when they sold the business to Rachel Nisch. Rachel is dedicated to ensuring the greenhouse’s preservation and growth.

Graye’s Greenhouse is proud to continue its commitment to growing unique plants, offering friendly service, and providing space for creativity and community. In addition to growing houseplants, vegetables, and perennials, we host weddings, photography sessions, seasonal events, artist markets, and workshops!
